The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a full-size pickup truck that gets some of the hardest jobs done right. Four engine options are available to choose from. The entry-level WT trim is equipped with a TurboMax engine that produces 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive capabilities also come standard.
A 5.3L V8 engine, standard on the LTZ and High Country trims and optional on most other trims, delivers 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. A 6.2L V8 engine, optional starting on the RST trim, boasts 420 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A more efficient 3.0L Duramax turbo diesel engine, standard on the ZR2 trim and optional on almost everything else, generates 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
With the addition of the 6.2L V8 engine, the Silverado 1500 can haul a maximum of 13,300 pounds, but even the standard engine is capable of 9,500 pounds. Optional features such as a high-capacity suspension package or full-locking front and rear differential are also available on certain trims. The ZR2 has its own suspension package with a high-performance lifted suspension and multimatic DSSV dampers.
